An Intimate Sheffield Wedding at Park Hill Estate & the Town Hall

Photographing a wedding when the couple are also close friends makes the day feel extra magical. This intimate Sheffield wedding was not only full laughter and joy, but also a big personal milestone for me — it was my first wedding as a photographer.

Pre-Ceremony Portraits at Park Hill Estate Flats

We started the day at the iconic Park Hill Estate flats for couple portraits before the ceremony. This turned out to be the perfect way for Marcus and Bridie, who I have called Bridie and Groomie ever since their engagement, to ease into the day. This was a chance to have some fun and pause for breath ahead of the legal ceremony and then a bigger party later that week.

Park Hill Estate flats has great views and bold colours, which was lovely on such a grey day. I felt like the mixture of greenery and urban was the perfect backdrop for my city and countryside loving pals. Bridie and Marcus are so natural with one another anyway that we just walked around enjoying the views and their great outfits. The photos are below are unposed and documentary in style.

A Relaxed Ceremony at Sheffield Town Hall

After portraits, we headed to Sheffield Town Hall for the ceremony. With a small guest list made up of the mums, the atmosphere was intimate, emotional and wonderfully relaxed. There were happy tears (including my own) and plenty of laughter — the kind that comes when you’re marrying your best friend.

Starting the day with photos meant the couple arrived at the ceremony feeling grounded and present, able to enjoy every moment without rushing.

My First Wedding as a Photographer

This intimate wedding in Sheffield confirmed just how much I love telling real stories through photography. As a family photographer capturing genuine connection felt completely natural.

Although I’m based in Hampshire, travelling for this wedding was a total joy. Small, meaningful weddings like this one are a reminder that you don’t need a big guest list to have a beautiful day, or even if you are having a big wedding as well as a small legal one then it is beautiful to capture the smaller moments of joy that ceremony brings too.
